What the site collects, what it is used for, and the choices you have.
In short
You can use the whole site without an account. Signing in stores the name, email address and profile picture from your Google account. Practice results and preferences stay on your device. There is no advertising on the site, and personal information is not sold or shared for marketing.
1What is collected
Account information. If you sign in with Google, the site receives and stores your name, your email address and your profile picture. Nothing else is taken from your Google account, and the site never sees your password.
Activity. While you are signed in, the site records when you last used it, and — for its live features — whether you are currently online. When an account is created, the site also records how you arrived: the referring website, the page you landed on, and the broad type of device.
Practice data. Your results, mistakes, preferences and settings are stored in your own browser, on your device.
Technical logs. The site’s hosting provider processes IP addresses and request logs as part of serving and protecting the site, as every host does.
2How it is used
- to keep you signed in and show your results back to you;
- to display aggregate figures, such as how many students are practising at once, in which no individual is identifiable;
- to understand, in aggregate, how people find the site; and
- to send occasional email about the service. Every such email includes an unsubscribe link, and your address is never given to anyone else for marketing.
Personal information is not sold. There is no advertising on the site and no cross-site tracking.
3Where it is processed
The site is built on services that process data on its behalf, each under its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase — sign-in and data storage;
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery and security;
- Calendly — only if you book a call through the tutoring page;
- Google Fonts — typefaces on some pages.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK under their standard contractual safeguards.
4Cookies and local storage
The site sets no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Signing in relies on the cookies and tokens that Google authentication requires in order to work. Everything else — results, theme, preferences — lives in your browser’s local storage, which you can clear at any time from your browser’s settings.
5Retention and deletion
Account information is kept for as long as the account exists. To have your account and the information stored with it deleted, email [email protected] from the address on the account. Practice data on your device is yours to clear whenever you like, either from your browser or with the reset control on the site itself.
6Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the personal information held about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, and receive it in a portable form. Requests go to [email protected] and are answered within a month. If you are unhappy with how a request is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
